THE DOWNCAST with Guests FLight 97 & Chilio
The Downcast
The Downcast is a pop punk band from Toronto, Ontario. Their debut EP titled “Trouble at The Surfcomber” was released in August of 2018 and was produced by Alan Day of Four Year Strong. This record is packed with memorable melodies, emotional lyrics, and ripping guitar riffs. In a sea of unsigned artists asking for your attention, this is one band that should not be overlooked. Their future is promising for even more unique songs that you can’t seem to get out of your head. With their sophomore EP due to release in 2021, the hype is real.
Flight 97
Flight 97 is a Canadian band from Barrie, ON. With vocally driven, hard hitting melodies and a combination of many different musical influences, Flight 97 possesses a very original alt-rock style mixed with a pop punk sound. Brimming with emotion, angst and ear catching lyrics their catchy and relatable songs are somewhat reminiscent to those 90’s grunge bands a lot of us grew up listening to. Flight 97’s members include: Adam Tomkins (Lead vocals, Guitar), Brennon Oster (Drums, vocals) and Eric Bolton (Bass).
Although originally an acoustic solo project started by front man Adam Tomkins, Flight 97 has evolved over the years into the full 4-piece band it is today. After a songwriter’s seminar Adam attended in Toronto in 2014 facilitated by Greig Nori (Sum 41, Hedley) and Mark Zubek, it became clear to him he needed to find members for his band. Adam bumped into his old friend Brennon Oster, and the two realized they would be a perfect fit to start this band as they had played together in the past. They started writing and recording their E.P. at Electric Village Studios in Shanty Bay, ON. Finally their bass player, Eric Bolton joined the band.
